Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026. ClipZ is a free, account-less online video party game. This page explains simply what data is processed, why, for how long, and what your rights are.

1. Data we collect

• Nickname - needed to join a game and identify you.
• Profile picture (optional) - chosen by you and only visible during the games you join.
• Added video links - needed to play; only the title and thumbnail are kept, never the video itself.
• Chat messages - displayed during the game.
• IP address - seen by the server at connection time, used only for abuse protection, not stored.
• Session token - kept in your browser's local storage to reconnect if you refresh the page.
• Score image (optional) - whenever someone shares their final score on a social network, a “score card” is generated. This image keeps the nickname of every player on the leaderboard and, for those who set one, their profile picture. It highlights the profile of the person sharing. Concretely: if you set a profile picture, it appears on this image whenever a player in the game shares their score; and, to be explicit, your nickname and profile picture are kept within this image for as long as it exists.

2. Purpose

The data is used only to run the game: creating and joining games, managing players, videos, rounds, votes and scores. No ads, no tracking, no profiling, no selling.

3. Retention

Game data is kept in memory, only for the duration of the game: it is deleted when the game ends and the room empties (or after 30 minutes of inactivity). There is no persistent database. The token stored in your browser (localStorage) stays on your device and can be cleared at any time.

About the score image: it is never created unless someone taps “Share my score” or a social button. If nobody shares, no image exists and nothing is stored. If someone does share, a copy is hosted by ClipZ for only a few hours (while the network renders the post) and is then automatically deleted. Important: this applies to everyone - if another player in the game shares their score, the image they publish also includes your nickname and profile picture during that time. Once shared on a social network, the image (which contains the leaderboard including nicknames and photos) stays publicly visible there and is outside our control.

4. Cookies and local storage

ClipZ uses no advertising cookies or trackers. Only strictly necessary local storage is used (reconnect token, language and sound preferences). Embedded video players (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X) are provided by those platforms and remain subject to their own privacy policies; YouTube is used in “privacy-enhanced” mode (youtube-nocookie) when possible.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

You can at any time request access, rectification or deletion of your data, or object to its processing, by simply contacting us below. Since the data is ephemeral (deleted when the game closes), there is usually nothing left to delete.
